Shorten Flu and Cold Symptoms
I came across this information, and it reminded me of my Grandmother’s house.
She had a full 1-acre vegetable garden and every fruit tree, berry bush known to humankind. I would help her in the summer. I will never forget harvesting so many green beans that my hands had blisters. BUT that is not what this post is about; it’s about:
The Elderberry shrub. This was taken from The Holistic Orchard by Michael Phillips.
“Elderberries have been proven in quite a few recent studies to shorten the duration of cold and flu symptoms, as well as strengthening the immune system.
Constituents in the juice of these dark-pigments berry work by inhibiting the amino acid chain that the virus needs to escape from the infected cell. This prevents viruses from being able to replicate in more and more of your cells”.
No Flu Shots For Us
It’s great news as we don’t take the flu shots, so I rushed out and bought a bottle for this winter, just in case. I also ordered a shrub for my garden. I will post how the bush does and how I make my syrup later this summer. He tells in the book how his wife makes their Elderberry syrup using raw honey. Making your own will save you a lot of money. I paid $20.00 for this small bottle. We’ll make some from our bush and its organic too! This shrub grows 10’x10′ so that is a ton of berries to share with family and friends! Or you can purchase dried berries, and that will work too!
Next time you want to shorten flu and cold symptoms grab a bottle of Elderberry syrup and see what happens.
I got the bottle home and tasted it! Yummy, but It brought back the memory of my Grandmother’s house! She had a bush too! It’s funny how particular taste and smells can take us back 45 years. It is indeed a powerful thing.
Hope you enjoyed this post! I think it’s great information to know, share it with your friends.
All the best,
